Why Envigilator?

Students of all ages use computers for entertainment, socializing, and when completing school work. Knowing this, instructors and teachers give students homework assignments that require students to use computers. Students may be required to use word processors, electronic spreadsheets, graphics arts software, drafting software, chemical simulation applications, etc.

If students are required to do homework assignments using a computer, they should be allowed to use a computer when being assessed on what they have learned. However, instructors are often reluctant to allow students to use computers in an exam environment for fear of cheating. After all, a network connected computer means students have access to web sites, mapped networked drives, USB drives, email, and other resources the instructor does not want them to have.

Rather than attempt to prevent the student from accessing unauthorized information, Envigilator watches what each student does on the computer and records the computer screen actions. If cheating is suspected, the screen recordings can be reviewed and appropriate action taken. This approach to exam monitoring means Envigilator can be used to proctor exams with just a few minutes of planning by a proctor.
